Stability and radioactive gaseous iodine-131 retention capacity of binderless UiO-66-NH2 granules under severe nuclear accidental conditions

In the present work, we aim to investigate ability of zirconium-based MOF-type compound UiO-66-NH2, immobilize molecular gaseous iodine under conditions analogous those encountered in an operating Filtered Containment Venting System (FCVS) line. Typically, UiO-66-NH2 particles were exposed 131I (beta and gamma emitters) submitted air/steam at 120 °C, irradiation (1.9 kGy h-1). parallel this experiment simulated accidental conditions, stability binderless granules steam was investigated. order fit with specifications required by typical venting systems, compare efficiency selected MOF porous materials commonly used industry, scale-up syntheses millimetric-size shaping realized.
